US tanker with top hat - Life magazine - FINISHED

Posted by Giovanni on giovedì 13 dicembre 2012 , under , , , , , | commenti (4)

Ciao a tutti,

Has been a while, but I've been busy with work and life.

I have finished this  piece, I painted the figure and my friend Vittorio Arena built and painted the Sherman wedge.

We have tried to reproduce the same atmosphere of the original picture, and I hope you think we did it.

I did use, as usual, acrylics for fabrics, oils for skin tones and leathers.

Hope you like it.

Ciao

Ciao a tutti,

This is one of the last figures I've painted.

Is a limited edition figure produced by the forum www.figurinitaly.com sculpted by Mariano Numitone.

The figure is casted in resin, and is almost perfect, with very tiny imperfection to spot and fill/sand.

Is the first time I paint a figure sculpted by Mariano and I have to admit that was a great fun.

I hope you like it.

Posted by Giovanni on domenica 7 ottobre 2012 , under , , , , | commenti (2)

Ciao a tutti,

Questo post sarà scritto in italiano ed inglese.

This entry will be written in english and italian.

I am pleased to officially launch, for the second year, the charity project "Passion for Life".

As you know, if you read my blog, I modelled an figure depicting an italian soldier during the First colonial expedition in Africa in 1885.

The model has been beautifully painted by my dear friend
Stefano Lancioni and is now ready to be purchased by all of you.

This year, the founds raised will go the association
"Potentialmente" to set up a capital fund that will be used to support children guests of the foster homes in their educational and professional careers, encouraging the development of skills and competencies.

Go to
www.p4l.it and see the photos of the master, the finished piece, and order one of the 150 pieces available, do not miss yours.

Grazie,

Giovanni

Sikh Bust - Finished

Ciao a tutti,

I've finished this little gem, has been an absolute pleasure to paint this little bust.

I used this bust to experiment few techniques and new colour schemes.

I highly recommend this JMD's bust, I've found the sculpture amazing especially the face.

The only flaw is that is completely missing any historical or uniformology information, finding info on the net is not so easy as well..

I hope you like it, let me know what you think.

Sikh Bust - Step 2

Ciao a tutti,

Here I'm again with this nice JMD bust.

I've almost completed the torso, I just need to finish the gold shoulders patches.

The jacket has been made using a stippling technique, using various shades to depict the "english uniform" going from sunny skintone to black.

Has been a nice experience and I think I will try it on other busts as well.

Calvin Tan did a magnificent bust using this technique and Hardy tempest does something similar with oil colours, and he is a true artist.

Leathers are done using oil colours, to give the shiny/translucent finish.

Let me know what you think.

Sikh Bust - Step 1

Ciao a tutti,

Has been long time since I've updated my blog.

Many things are happening, the biggest one will be revealed soon.

For the time being I'm painting this splendid bust from JMD, should be a fairly quick painting for my standard.

The sculpture is amazing, particularly the face.

Flesh tones are done, beard as well, maybe some touch up will be done.

Let me know what you think.

Ciao a tutti,

After a looong period I've finally managed to finish this figure, one of my old passion a napoleonic figure.

I've to thank many friends who helped me finding the right documentation to make the piece as historical accurate as possible.

Let me know what you think.
